Marching Band
The Rockdale County High School Marching Band operates with a distinction of excellence.  This sense of excellence is developed through the hard work of the students and instructors.

The Marching Band is a group consisting of student instrumental musicians performing outdoors for the purpose of entertainment, exercise, and sometimes in competition. Instrumentation typically includes brass, woodwinds, and percussion instruments. Our marching bands wear a uniform (military style) that includes our school name, shakos, pith helmets, feather plumes, gloves, gauntlets, sashes, and/or capes.

Most marching bands are generally categorized by function, size, age, gender and by the style of show they perform. Students in the RCHS band program can expect to experience both types of marching bands, Corps style and Traditional/HBCU style, incorporating both styles into our Friday night performances. We have a more traditional approach in the stands during the games, but march a corps style show during half-time and for competitions. This combination leads to Rockdale students being the most prepared to march in any college the wish to go to and be successful, often earning scholarships to be in those same music programs. ​

During the performances, our Marching Band is backed by our Dance Team and Color Guard. Our performing group utilizes contemporary guard equipment (flags, rifles, sabers), modern dance, acting skills, and a wide variety of props. Numerous performance opportunities include all RCHS half-time shows, marching contests, parades, pep-rallies and Color Guard Circuit competitions.  The selection process into Dance and Color Guard is based on audition and recommendation.
Bulldog Ruby Dollz Dance Team
Our Dance Team provides the visual enhancement to our Field Show, Parade, and Stands Presentation. Members of our Dance Team are trained and have extensive dance vocabulary in lyrical, jazz, hip-hop, ballet, contemporary, and majorette-style dance. Auditions are held in the Spring.

Color Guard (Fall)
Colorguard members enhance the overall visual performance and effect for the marching band. Members of this ensemble utilize contemporary guard equipment (flags, rifles, sabers), modern dance, acting skills, and a wide variety of props. Colorguard ensemble is an auditioned based component of the band program.

Winter Guard (Winter)
The Rockdale County High School Winterguard has a strong dedication to excellence. Winterguard is an auditioned based component of the band program. This ensemble has a long-standing history of success including a recent international ranking and impressive performance at the 2016 Winterguard International (WGI) Championships.
Winterguard is an indoor performance ensemble that utilizes contemporary guard equipment (flags, rifles, sabers), modern dance, acting skills, and a wide variety of props. Unlike traditional colorguard, the winterguard performs in gymnasiums or arenas. This ensemble performs with a recorded music track rather than a live ensemble.
